In 2010 and 2011 the Society funded the construction of an artificial Kingfisher Nest Bank on the North Shore of the Lake in Hatfield Forest. Because the site was within the Nature Reserve it needed special permission from Natural England. Work was carried out firstly by a volunteer group from Glaxo Smith Kline and then National Trust volunteers. It is hoped that the nest bank will attract Kingfishers in the future. In 2015 the Society provided half the funding towards a new Tern Raft.
